The Iowa men’s basketball team got back in the win column after a loss to Seton Hall in the Gavitt Games with a 95-67 win over Texas Rio Grande Valley in Carver-Hawkeye on Nov. 20.

Senior guard Peter Jok led the Hawkeyes with 27 points on 9-of-13 shooting, and freshman forward Tyler Cook added 15 in an efficient 6-of-9 game.

With the win, Iowa moves its early season record to 3-1.

Although it’s hard to draw conclusions through four games, it sure seems like Jok and Cook will carry the scoring load for the Hawkeyes this season.

Iowa will face better competition when it travels to Destin, Florida, this week to play in the Emerald Coast Classic. Its first game will come against Virginia, and its second game will come against either Memphis or Providence.
