It’s been a weird, weird first half. Northwestern went up 7-0 early after a nice punt return gave them the ball at the Iowa 5-yard line and marched in for a score. The Hawkeyes responded with a touchdown to tie the game, but the Wildcats then rattled off 10 points, to push the lead to 17-7.
Then, Iowa’s defense came up huge. A sack on third down led to a Northwestern punt. Desmond King had a huge return, and several plays later, Iowa scored on an outside run by Akrum Wadley. A Brandon Snyder forced fumble on the following possession, which led to a Riley McCarron 15-yard touchdown on third down.
Speaking of McCarron, he leads the team right now with 4 catches for 50 yards and a touchdown.
LeShun Daniels Jr. leads the Hawkeyes with 10 rushes for 45 yards.
It’s been an entertaining half of football, and there’s no way the second half won’t just as weird.
