Well, it’s halftime. The Bison came out tough, as expected, and have given the Hawkeyes a bit of a challenge through the first 30 minutes of the game. North Dakota State’s offense has looked pretty decent, tallying 130 yards to Iowa’s 172.
The real credit, however, should go to the Bison defense. Hawkeye quarterback C.J. Beathard threw his first interception of the season early in the first quarter, which was returned for a North Dakota State touchdown and the first points of the game. Beathard has looked flustered and hurried for a good portion of the day.
Credit for that should absolutely go to the Bison, though they haven’t been able to bring down Beathard for a sack yet.
Iowa’s wide receivers also had several drops in the first half, which is far from ideal. A bright spot for the Hawkeyes? Tight end George Kittle has 2 receptions for 58 yards and looks like the all-world tight end he has been billed as.
