- Kirk was happy with how Iowa played against the Cyclones. I would be too, if I were him.
- Parker Hesse sounds like he’ll probably be ready to go. Who knows how much he’ll play, but that’s good news for Iowa’s defensive line depth.
- James Daniels is “moving around well” and “hasn’t been ruled out” so he may or may not go. This one will be something to watch.
- Lots of praise for North Dakota State. Talked about how over their past five national championship seasons included 20 elimination games. Says it’s impressive, “almost unfathomable” to win all those games. Lots of respect between the two programs here.
- Impressed with George Kittle’s blocking, thinks he’s a well-rounded defensive end.
- “They’re going to come out and block us.” Ferentz is talking nice about
- “LeShun’s a little faster than people give them credit for.”
- Kirk got a question if he had a “rule’s expert” on the sideline. He does not, and likes to think the coaches on the sideline have a pretty good idea of what’s going on. Did admit that last week he questioned an official on a call and the official was right.
- “It’s another kind of challenge” on NDSU this week. Different type of team than Iowa State and Miami (Ohio).
- “He’s another story.” on Matt VandeBerg. “He’s a ball of energy.”
- Wadley got a little “banged up” after the game. Says he’s a little limited, but “that’s part of the deal” for running backs.
- On Beathard: “practicing every day has helped him.”
- Iowa and NDSU see each other in recruiting fairly often. There’s been some battles between the two, it seems. Sounds like the Bison tip off the Hawkeyes to prospects sometimes.
- Lots of talk about development today. Ferentz seems to respect how they build depth and talent with limited amounts of scholarships.
- Manny Rugamba is now Iowa’s third corner.
- Ferentz says Lucas LeGrand did pretty well in his first start, Iowa didn’t know until Thursday that James Daniels wouldn’t be starting.
