The Iowa men’s gold team finished seventh in the Gopher Invitational at Windsong Farm Golf Club in Independence, Minnesota, on Sunday.
The Hawkeyes recorded a 293 in the last round to give them a total of 879 (27-over) for the tournament.
Senior Raymond Knoll finished strong with a 73 in the third round, giving him a three-round total score of 213, good for fourth. Sophomore Matthew Walker followed 2 strokes behind Knoll, placing him in a tie for seventh. Senior Carson Schaake ended up in a tie for 44th place with a 79 in round three and a three-round total of 226.
Freshmen Ryoto Furuya and Jack Simpson entered tournament play for the first time as Hawkeyes this past weekend and made the cut. Furuya finished with a three-round total of 230, and Simpson finished one stroke him with a 231.
Junior Sam Meuret and freshman Benton Weinberg competed in the individual part of the tournament, which was held at Pioneer Creek Golf Course. Meuret impressed everyone and finished in a tie for third place, giving him a total score of 214 (2-under). Weinberg ended with a total of 230, placing him in a tie for 22nd place.
