This game was basically decided in the first quarter. The Hawkeyes went up 14-3 and never looked back.
C.J. Beathard was too good. Akrum Wadley was juking all over the field, and Matt VandeBerg caught most balls thrown his way. It was utter and complete domination of Iowa State in every facet of the game.
The Iowa defense limited Joel Lanning to 86 yards passing and eventually outsted him for Jacob Park late in the third quarter. It was a miserable evening for Cyclone head coach Matt Campbell in his first Cy-Hawk rivalry game. Wide receiver Allen Lazard posted a decent game (7 catches for 111 yards), but little else worked for Iowa State.
One thing before we get to the stats — if the the Hawkeye offense keeps this up, it could be among the best in school history. There are weapons everywhere on this roster.
