First game of the season, first win in the books for Iowa.
The Hawkeyes dominated the first half and led 28-7 at the break, but they were not able to do much of anything until late in the second half. Miami Ohio) scored 14 points during the final 30 minutes of the game to make things a little interesting.
When Iowa was moving, the offense looked good. Akrum Wadley and LeShun Daniels Jr. both played very well, and Iowa’s receiving corps made a number of nice plays.
Making things more difficult for the Hawkeyes was middle linebacker Josey Jewell’s ejection for a targeting call early in the first quarter. Luckily for Iowa, he will not have to miss any of next week’s Iowa State game. Defensive end Parker Hesse was also injured in the first half and did not return to the game.
However, Iowa walked out of Kinnick with a win and now has plenty of tape to pore over.
