Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer spoke to members of the media at the Big Ten Media Days to discuss the upcoming 2016-2017 season.
- Rounded out the Big Ten coaches with condolences to the Foltz and Sadler families.
- “I’ve been answering a lot of questions about a young team. The issue would be if it was an untalented young team, but it’s not.”

- On the possibility of Bri’onte Dunn returning – “There’s no chance.”
- Meyer anticipates Mike Weber as the starting tailback
- “My goal is to play every freshman.”
- “Our strength coach is very excited about the strength and athleticism of this team. He’s not sure he’s ever seen a group like this.”
- “Going into it, top to bottom, this is the most talented group as I have ever had.”
- On opening the season with Bowling Green and Tulsa – “It would be a mistake by myself or anyone else to overlook our first two games.”
- On negative recruiting rumors circulating with Penn State – “Absolutely not. That’s something I have not heard of. If need be I will address that with Coach Franklin.”
- On Lovie Smith becoming head coach of Illinois – “Instant credibility and name recognition… I think it’s great for our conference and great for Illinois.”
