Maryland head coach DJ Durkin spoke to members of the media at Big Ten Media Days to discuss the upcoming 2016-2017 season.
- Durkin will be in his first year as the Terps head coach “It’s great and a honor to be here, and in the Big Ten conference,” Durkin said.
- On Maryland: “Lots of new and exciting things going on.”
- On coaching staff: “You’re only as good as the people you’re around. It’s a lot to be excited about.”
- “They’re here for a reason. They’ve done a great job leading us,” Durkin said on the three players (Jermaine Carter Jr, Michael Dunn, and William Likely) representing Maryland at Big Ten Media Days.
- On recruiting: “Our staff does an outstanding job, and even our players have done a good job recruiting other players. It’s nice to have those ties.”
- On being in same division are Urban Meyer and Jim Harbaugh: “You obviously learn things and take bits of pieces. It’s been a tremendous benefit for me. You want to be apart of the highest level, with some of the best coaches at the highest level.”
- Really excited about freshman class. “It’s a deep talent.”
