Rutgers head coach Chris Ash spoke to members of the media at Big Ten Media Days to discuss the upcoming 2016-2017 season.
- Ash opened his statement exclaiming his excitement for his first year as Rutgers head coach, and first experience at Big Ten Media Days. Ash is “honored to be here”
- “Bought in for what we’re trying to do, go extremely hard, and they do well in the classroom,” Ash on three players here at Big Ten Media Days (Darius Hamilton, Andre Patton, Julian Pinnix-Odrick)
- Ash believes Rutgers has really laid down a solid foundation in a short span of time. “There’s lots of accountability, structure, and discipline right now.”
- Ash stressed the importance of having fun right now before the season. “If there’s no fun we’re screwing this thing up.”
- Open competition for starting quarterback position. “I’m excited to see what they do once we start training camp. All four quarterbacks have had a good summer… all of them will get an opportunity to get the job,” Ash said.
- On rivalry with Michigan: “There’s no rivalry with Michigan yet,” Ash said.
