How often do people say “I like all kinds of music”? Despite liking all genres, no bands seem to feel the same; different genres rarely mix. Occasionally, one may hear a rap within a pop song or some jazz mixed with country, but that’s about as versatile as musicians get.
Except for the Recliners.
The Recliners, a band impossible to classify, will perform at the Mill, 120 E. Burlington, at 7 p.m. Friday. This band combines various genres including pop, folk, Turkish, bluegrass, and Irish melodies. The members play catchy music and add their own fun twist.
The band focuses on the new, too. Songs such as “Get Lucky,” by Daft Punk, “Happy,” by Pharrel Williams, and “I Kissed a Girl,” by Katy Perry have all been covered by the Recliners. The group also draws inspiration from Frank Sinatra and make covers in his style.
No one knows what this band has in store when it plays in Iowa City. The group may even play some Justin Timberlake. No one can turn down “Suit and Tie.”
