The new Hancher building is on its way to being completed.
The old building has been torn down due to damage after the Iowa flood in 2008. Meanwhile, events have taken place across the city in various locations.
“It was a university decision,” said executive director of Hancher Chuck Swanson. “It was a building that served us well for over forty years, but it was really kind of to the point that this building needed a lot of changes.”
The new building is set to open fall 2016.
“It’s going to be a destination,” Swanson said. “It’s going to be a place where students, where people from the community, where people really want to gather.”
