Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders scheduled several more stops to his latest Iowa swing on Thursday, just 26 days before the nation’s first presidential nominating contest, the Iowa caucuses.
The self-described democratic socialist will return Jan. 8 for a four-day trip through eastern and central Iowa, including participation in two presidential forums.

His 15th visit to Iowa this cycle includes stops in Ankeny, Boone, Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, and Waverly. He is expected to address climate change, the controversial Bakken crude-oil pipeline, the economy, living wages and college affordability, aides said.
The added trips are a calculated move by the Sanders campaign; aides seek to boost his support among Iowa’s Democratic base leading up to the Brown & Black Forum and the Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement Action Fund Presidential Forum. Both forums are set for this weekend.

Sanders, 74, once seen as an little-chance insurgent candidate, is within a few points of Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton here, and he leads in some polls in New Hampshire.
