With Halloween just a few weeks away, Daily Iowan TV’s Megan Sanchez took a look at one of the famous haunts of Iowa City: The Black Angel.

Driving a few minutes into Oakland Cemetery brings visitors right up to the 8 1/2 foot tall memorial. In the 1900’s, when the statue was placed in the cemetery, it was copper, which led to it’s dark color years later.

Around halloween, students like to head out to see the statue late at night, spooked by legends that go hand in hand with touching the Black Angel.
