Every week, the Iowa football team meets with the media to discuss anything and everything. It’s Iowa State week, so discussion mostly surrounded that game, though a positive showing during the season opener also was a focal point of many.
Anyways, here’s what the Hawkeye players had to say.

Quarterback C.J. Beathard
On handling the hype: “You can’t listen to the outside noise… we know this is a big game for us. Big game for them too.”
On the potential for the hostile environment: “I’m excited for that, honestly. I like embracing that environment. The crowd kinda says stuff to you, it kinda gets you going.”
However, Beathard says they’ve been preparing for the noise: “It’s nothing we can’t handle.”
Linebacker Cole Fisher
Fisher only needs five credits to graduate, on his class load: “They’re not hard.”
On being requested to talk to the media: “It’s an all new experience, it’s fun. They put me over here and everyone’s swarming and I’m like ‘Oh jeeze.’ ”
Tight end Henry Krygier Coble
On this week’s matchup with Iowa State, “It’s a huge game, but this week is also a chance to make big improvements from week one to week two.”
On no catches or targets week one: “We’re gonna do exactly what they tell us to do, whether its catch more balls in order to help the team, or be on more run plays.”
Wide receiver Jacob Hillyer
On Iowa playing Iowa State’s fight song constantly during workouts: “Yeah, a couple times I had to just leave and get out of the area, just to not listen to that song again.”
Linebacker Travis Perry
On facing former high school teammate Allen Lazard: “His dad actually coached me, was my defensive backs coach in high school he’s a great, great kid and a great football player.”
