At Tuesday‘s Graduate and Professional Student Government meeting, funding was the main topic of discussion, as well as the presidential search and upcoming events.
Of the requested funding, the University of Iowa undergraduate, graduate, and professional students’ “Passport to Health, a Free Wellness Event” was funded by GPSG.
The College of Medicine also requested funding for a second silent-auction event that will tentatively take place next school year. It was granted partial funding by GPSG.
President Sally Mason has recently developed an organization called the President’s Black Student Advisory Committee, for which GPSG unanimously nominated Jasmine Mangrum, Pharmacy Technician at UI Health Care.
The group also touched on the Presidential Search Committee, which will be getting underway in the next few weeks. Currently, only two of the 19 members of the committee are students; however, other comments and suggestions about the new president are being taken on the University of Iowa website.
