Authorities have accused a Cedar Rapids man of trying to steal a diamond ring.
Earnest Murry, 28, was charged with second-degree theft on Nov. 18, 2014.
According to online court documents, officers responded to a location after receiving a report of a woman being detained after trying to steal a diamond ring valued at almost $8,000.
It was later found that Murry and another man in the store went in to check out the business.
Murry then went into a local bank to exchange several $100 bills for several hundred $1 Â bills. The woman who was arrested reportedly used the $1 bills as “flash money.”
Murry allegedly aided the theft of the ring by his actions.
Second-degree theft is a Class-D felony.
