Iowa sophomore and former junior-college transfer Trey Dickerson will leave the Iowa men’s basketball program.
Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery on Monday said Dickerson has been fully released from his scholarship. The 6-foot guard intends on finishing the academic semester at Iowa before transferring.
“We appreciate the contributions Trey made during his time here,” McCaffery said in a release. “Trey has a bright future, and we wish him all the best moving forward.”
Dickerson did not travel with the Hawkeyes to Nebraska on Sunday for its 74-46 win over the Cornhuskers. In limited minutes this season, Dickerson has averaged 2.7 points per game on 34.7 percent shooting. A former junior-college All-American, Dickerson played 146 minutes in 15 games during his season as a Hawkeye.
He will have two years of eligibility remaining in his college career.
“I appreciate the staff and Hawkeye nation for showing me love,” he said in a release. “I enjoyed my time here, but I have to do what’s best for me.”
