The Iowa track and field squad closed its regular indoor season before the Big Ten meet at the Alex Wilson Invitational on Feb. 21 in South Bend, Indiana.
The Hawks clocked 12 personal bests at the event, most notably sophomore Brittany Brown’s performance in the 200. The sophomore earned a season-best time of 23.93, fifth best in the Big Ten. Senior Lake Kwaza, who also competed in that race, finished third with a time of 24.36. Kwaza also tied her season best with a mark of 7.44 in the women’s 60, finishing fourth.
Freshman Jahisha Thomas competed in the women’s long jump and came out on top. The London native received a person best jump of 5.95 meters, 11th in the conference.
On the men’s side, junior Will Teubel took the title in the men’s 800 with a time of 1:49.65. Teubel was joined by teammates Brennan Davey, Brendan Thompson, and Aaron Mallett in the men’s 1,600-meter relay, which raced to a third-place finish at 3:09.87. That mark is ranked fifth in the conference.
