The poll that mattered on Tuesday morning was the USA Today/National Wrestling Coaches Association Division I coaches’ poll because it helped decide the quarterfinal pairings for this weekend’s National Duals.
Iowa, of course, was ranked No. 1 in that poll, and it will face Tennessee-Chattanooga at noon Saturday for the right to advance to the semifinals.
But we here at The Daily Iowan use Flowrestling for our normal, week-to-week rankings, and this week, Iowa is … wait for it … still ranked No. 1.
All 10 of Iowa’s starters are ranked, and of those 10, seven are ranked among the top-eight in their respective weight classes.
125 pounds — Thomas Gilman, 5th (last week, 5th)
Additionally, Telford and Evans remain the only two Hawkeyes ranked in Flowrestling’s Pound-4-Pound rankings. Both Telford and Evans dropped to No. 11 and No. 20, respectively.
Behind Iowa in the team rankings are Minnesota at No. 2, Ohio State in third, Missouri in fourth, followed by Penn State, Cornell, Virginia Tech, and Oklahoma State
