Officials have accused an Iowa City man of abusing a child and a woman.

Robert Burhans, 50, was charged with child endangerment — bodily injury and domestic-abuse assault on Tuesday.

According to online court documents, Burhans was in a physical fight with his girlfriend over Facebook.

He allegedly took his girlfriend’s phone and slammed it against the wall, then struck her in the face.

Burhans allegedly punched the child in the chest and later threw an ironing board at him and his mother.

The child had scratches on his chest and upper back and a ripped T-shirt, and the girlfriend had a swollen lip.

Child endangerment — bodily injury and domestic-abuse assault are both Class-D felonies.
