Iowa women’s tennis will compete in the Furman Fall Classic in Furman, South Carolina, this weekend. This is the second tournament of the season for the Hawkeyes and second time they have played this tournament.
Iowa will face top-level competition from the likes of Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt. Although there are no team rankings in the fall, six of the teams Iowa could play were ranking in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings last season, Alabama at No. 6, Vanderbilt at 11, Clemson at 13, South Carolina at 26, Florida State at 31, and Tennessee at 34.
Freshman Montana Crawford will try to continue her hot streak. She won her flight bracket last week and is the only Hawkeye undefeated this season.
Doubles play will be a traditional tournament style, unlike last week; the players will stick with the same pairs from Friday to Sunday.
