The Iowa men’s tennis team will play in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American Tournament beginning Saturday and continuing through Sept. 29.
Seven players will make the trip to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to compete in their second tournament of the year.
“This is the first big national tournament of the year,” coach Ross Wilson said. “Some of the best players in the country are coming to play, so we are excited to see how we stack up.”
Last weekend in the Purdue Fall Invitational, senior Andres Estensorro withdrew because of an ankle injury. However, this weekend he expects to be ready for action.
“It feels good,” Estensorro said. “I’m practicing fully and staying positive for the tournament.”
Last weekend, freshmen Jake Jacoby, Josh Silverstein, and Lefteris Theodorou saw their first action at the college level.
“I thought we did a lot of good things last weekend,” Wilson said. “Our freshmen have one tournament of experience now; it will be interesting to see how we compete out there.”
