The Iowa City School Board voted Tuesday to freeze central administration salaries for the upcoming year.
The movement would freeze salaries for all central administrators.
Board member Tuyet Dorau proposed a freeze of administration salaries that was initially turned down.
However, the motion to freeze central administration salaries passed later.
Dorau said the importance of this freeze is to emphasize the extent of the budget cuts.
“It’s important because it shows that the pressure of the budget cuts aren’t just happening in the classrooms,” she said.
