Two University of Iowa faculty members will present readings this week.

Mark Levine and Robyn Schiff will read from their poetry at Prairie Lights, 15 S. Dubuque St., at 7 p.m. today. Admission is free. The reading with also be streamed online at the UI Writing University website.

Schiff, who teaches in the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, is the author of two books of poetry, Revolver and Worth. Her work has also been published in several anthologies including, Legitimate Dangers: American Poets of the New Century, Women Poets on Mentorship: Efforts and Affections, and Transatlantic Verse.

She has also was a featured poet at the 2007 Poetry Society of America Festival of New American Poets. In 2002, she received an award from the Greenwall Fund by the Academy of American Poets.

According to Poetry.org, the Greenwall Fund, established in 1998, supplies grants of up to $3,000 to support poets in the publication of their first books of original poetry at noncommercial U.S. presses.

Levine also teaches in the Writers’ Workshop. He is the author of three books of poetry: Debt, Enola Gay, and The Wilds. He has also written a nonfiction book, F5. The book explores the destruction, danger, and survival of victims during the tornado outbreak across the Midwest in 1974.
