Iowa junior Babatunde Amosu was named Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week after the Mt. SAC Relays on April 18-19.
The triple jumper reached a personal best mark of 15.97 meters at the event, third-best all time at Iowa. His mark also puts him in elite company — it now ranks sixth in the nation and second in the Big Ten behind only Penn State’s Steve Waithe.
Amosu is the first Iowa athlete to win a Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week since two-time all-American Adam Hamilton in 2007.
Iowa will return to the track this weekend for the Drake Relays in Des Moines.
