Authorities have accused a North Liberty man of possessing meth and a rifle.
William Baldwin, 38, was charged April 2 with receipt/transportation/possession of a firearm by a felon and controlled-substance violation.
According to a North Liberty police complaint, a search warrant was served at Baldwin’s residence.
During the search, authorities located a .223 rifle in Baldwin’s closet. He told authorities it was his friend’s rifle, the complaint said.
Several grams of methamphetamine, marijuana, and a scale were also found during the search. Baldwin admitted to selling marijuana but denied selling methamphetamine.
However, text messages on Baldwin’s phone appear to show people ordering meth from him, the complaint said.
Receipt/transportation/possession of a firearm by a felon is a Class-D felony. Controlled-substance violation is a Class-C felony.
