University of Iowa President Sally Mason will be granted an honorary doctor of law degree from the University of Notre Dame during the university’s commencement ceremony on May 18.
Notre Dame officials described the president as a “distinguished leader in higher education.” Mason was chosen based on her work involving enrollment and retention, as well as her part in the first consecutive tuition freezes in 30 years for the regent universities in Iowa.
Mason will be honored with five others — Douglas Ford, Ray Hammond, Evelyn Hu, Judith Jamison, and Sean Patrick O’Malley.
