The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics generates more than 8,000 jobs, according to a recent study by the Iowa Hospital Association.
The study said 8,233 jobs were produced by the hospital and clinics, which has a $686 million impact on Iowa’s economy.
The UI Carver College of Medicine and UIHC have a total employment impact of 32,598 people. The hospital provides slightly more than $277 million in revenue for the state and provides a $4.6 billion economic impact.
There are 71,437 people directly employed by the Iowa hospitals, and they create another 57,792 jobs outside the hospital sector.
