A meeting regarding the upcoming open positions in the University of Iowa Student Government was held on Monday to address all available positions and requirements for students to run for office.
UISG Sen. Jerry Gao said elections will be held in April. The positions of president, vice president, and 39 Senate seats will be open.
In order to run, students must submit a petition with between 75 and 300 signatures of undergraduate students, depending on the position.
Signatures will be verified by the Student Employment Center, and if any are not legible, they will not count.
Part of the election process includes a bond submission of $100, which will not be charged to the students if they follow all of the protocols during the weeks of election.
There is a one-day period between the end of the election and the showing of the results, in which employment center will look for rules that were broken.
Completed petitions are due on March 13 in the IMU; no campaigning may occur until March 31.
