An Iowa City man has been accused of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence.
Donald Frink, 50, was charged on Feb. 14 with third-offense OWI.
According to a police complaint, an officer was dispatched after receiving a report of a male walking along a highway. The officer spotted Frink’s vehicle abandoned near where he found the Frink. The officer reportedly detected a strong odor of alcohol on the Frink, and he almost fell over while walking to the police car, the complaint said.
Frink said he was on his way back to Cedar Rapids and acknowledged that he was going to the wrong way. He also said that he ran out of gas, and did not know he was on low fuel. Frink had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, swayed while standing, even after being in a warm environment for sometime, the complaint said.
Third-offense OWI is a Class-D felony.
