For Valentine’s weekend, City Circle Acting Company will present the fashion-focused play Love, Loss, and What I Wore — and give a little something back in the process.
The play will open at 7:30 p.m. Friday with performances on Saturday and Feb. 16 at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts, 1301 Fifth St.
Written by Nora and Delia Ephron, Love, Loss, and What I Wore encompasses 12 monologues by women who each possess a piece of clothing or an accessory that brings back a memory.
“There are some funny and some poignant memories,” said City Circle board head Emil Rinderspacher. “We have a really strong cast of women.”
City Circle will channel some of this strength to support the Domestic Violence Intervention Program by hosting a clothing drive and designer dress auction in conjunction with the performances.
“We’re a community theater, so we’re all volunteers who enjoy the arts,” Rinderspacher said. “This is just another way to participate in that community and give back.”
City Circle will also give back to its audiences by serving sparkling wine and chocolates at the show.
Tickets for Love, Loss, and What I Wore cost between $12 and $27, with a student rush at the door one hour before each performance.
City Circle encourages audiences to drop off donations of gently used professional clothing and accessories to the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts or Catherine’s Boutique, 7 S. Dubuque.
