Former Johnson County Republicans Chairman Bob Anderson is holding a kickoff event for his state Senate campaign.

Anderson is running for the Republican nomination for Senate District 39; will hold a campaign kickoff event on Feb. 11 at University of Iowa Athletics Club at 6 p.m.

Sen. Sandy Greiner, R-Washington, decided not to run for re-election, which will leave an open seat in a chamber where Democrats hold a two vote majority.

The district includes southern Johnson County and parts west of Iowa City along with all of Keokuk County and most of Washington County.
