Plans for a bridge replacement in Johnson County, located on Sharon Center Road, are being completed.
One of the final steps in planning for the bridge was to approve a right-of-way contract between the county and the property owner.
The right-of-way contract between Johnson County and Janice M. Maier was put before the Johnson County Board of Supervisors at their meeting on Thursday. It passed 5-0.
This contract is an agreement to allow the county to replace the bridge and allow traffic over the bridge, through Meier’s property.
The total cost of the contract is approximately $25,000, with more than half that cost being for right-of-way easement.
The bridge will be replaced because of its age and some other problems. The bridge is too narrow and has a weight limit. The project has been in the planning stages for 13 months.
