Iowa City’s first winter Farmers’ Market will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Iowa City Marketplace, formerly Sycamore Mall.

Farmers’ Market supervisor Cassidy Bell said the winter market has been “a long time coming.”

“Our hope with this market is to present a consistent, reliable market on the East Side of Iowa City during the winter months,” she said. “Hopefully, it will be a mutually beneficial relationship between market and mall vendors.”

Customers can expect to find apples, winter squash, potatoes, onions, garlic, and winter greens at the market, as well as dried pasta, herbs, honey, eggs, jam, candles, soaps, jewelry, pottery, and a variety of hot prepared foods.

Bell said she expects 20 to 25 vendors to set up in the Marketplace’s main aisle each day of the market, which will run through April 26.

“We hope that by showing that we are serious about making this market work and showing up consistently, we will build a strong market that will be around for years to come,” Bell said.
