A Cedar Rapids woman allegedly took four savings bonds from a victim’s home.

Daphne Wadley, 35, was charged Sept. 20 with second-degree theft.

According to an Iowa City police complaint, officers were called to the victim’s residence after receiving reports of a burglary.

Many personal items were reportedly taken as well as the savings bonds. On the same day the crime was committed, Wadley attempted to cash the bonds, but that was denied by the bank. The bank then seized the bonds from Wadley.

The bonds were valued at more than $1,000 but less than $10,000. Other items taken during the theft put the victim at extreme risk for identity theft.

Second-degree theft is a Class-D felony.
