An Iowa City man has been accused of possessing three stolen cell phones.
Dwaine Toran, 50, was charged Oct. 24 with second-degree possession of stolen property.
According to a Coralville police complaint, Toran entered US Cellular, 905 25th Ave., Coralville, to activate a cell phone.
The staff members said the phone was still under inventory, meaning Toran had not purchased it, and therefore they could not activate it. This made Toran angry, and he began to yell. Finally, he stormed out, got in his car, and sped away.
When he drove off, a cell phone box fell out of his car. Later, officials found two other cell phones that had not been paid for.
The total value of the phones was $2,349.97.
Second-degree possession of stolen property is a Class-D felony.
