The Iowa men’s tennis team will start competition today in West Lafayette, Ind., for the Big Ten Singles/Doubles Tournament. The tournament runs today through Oct. 27.
This will be the Hawkeyes’ final test before Big Ten play returns in early February. Head coach Steve Houghton is pleased with what he has seen so far and expects more progress this weekend.
“My main thing coming into the weekend is just to be looking for more breakthroughs. Whether it’s singles or doubles,” Houghton said. “We’re pretty darn good now at beating good players; whether we can beat very good players is still to be seen.”
With that, it’s safe to say that a couple more upset wins this weekend would allow Houghton to sleep a little bit better over the next few months.
