The person responsible for the lockdown at Lone Tree Community School has been convicted.

Daniel Jansen, 18, Lone Tree, was charged Sept. 23 with going armed with intent and going armed with intent with a knife blade exceeding 8 inches. 

According to a Johnson County sheriff’s complaint, Jansen approached the building of Lone Tree Community School, 303 S. Devoe St., at approximately 9:30 a.m. 

He was wearing a skeleton mask to hide his identity as well as a dark coat.

Upon confrontation with school staff members, Jansen physically struggled with them and made statements that he intended to kill them and others.

Jansen attempted to pull a knife from his jacket. Once he was disarmed and the knife was detained, it was measured to be more than 9 inches. 

Jansen was identified by school staff.

Going armed with intent is a Class-D felony. Going armed with intent with a knife blade exceeding 8 inches is an aggravated misdemeanor.
