A Chicago man has been accused of assaulting a female.
Lemont Baker II, 29, was charged Monday with assault causing bodily injury.
According to an Iowa City police complaint, officers responded to reports of an in-progress fight.
When officials arrived, numerous subjects were trying to reach Baker, who was in a cab. The subjects told officials Baker had punched a woman.
The woman said Baker had grabbed her by the neck and punched her, which knocked her to the ground. She said this happened while she was trying to break up a fight between Baker and another subject.
Witnesses confirmed this. The woman had red marks on her neck and complained of pain.
Baker admitted to fighting and punching a male but did not admit to punching a female.
Assault causing bodily injury is a serious misdemeanor.
