It appears as though the 21-ordinance issue is once again headed to the voters.
The Iowa City City Council will vote on two items at its next meeting reaffirming its pro-21 stance.
One item authorizes and directors the Johnson County auditor to place the issue on the ballot for the Nov. 5 election, with the question of whether to repeal the 21-ordinance, which currently restricts patrons from entering bars after 10 p.m. if they are not 21 years of age.
Councilors will also vote on an item expressing their support for the current ordinance.
In June, the Iowa City City Clerk’s Office confirmed that a petition submitted by two downtown bar operators, calling for the repeal of the city’s 21-ordinance, was valid.
