A local man has been charged with criminal mischief after attempting to enter a residence on Market Street.
Daniel Drews, 21, was charged on July 27 with fourth-degree criminal mischief after officers were called to the East Market residence with reports that an unknown male was attempting to enter the residence through the back door.
According to an Iowa City police complaint, Drews then walked east from the scene and crossed the block. Drews had a blood-alcohol level of 0.232, the complaint said.
The victim said Drews had kicked two holes in the back door and broke the lock while attempting to enter the home.
Fourth-degree criminal mischief is a serious misdemeanor.
