The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is ranked No. 1 in the state again, following the annual release of “The Best Hospitals in America” by U.S. News & World Report.
The report ranks six specialties at the UIHC, including cancer; ear, nose, and throat; nephrology; neurology and neurosurgery; ophthalmology; and orthopaedics.
Additionally, the UI Children’s Hospital was ranked in seven specialties.
Debra Schwinn, the dean of the UI Carver College of Medicine, welcomed the good news these rankings provide for the community.
“This is additional confirmation that we are among the national elite in terms of patient care,” she said in a release. “We also are among the nation’s leaders in research and education, which means that [we] have the full package here in Iowa.”
