Iowa’s Aaron White and Team USA toppled Germany on Monday, 92-70. The win pushes USA into today’s ninth-place game, which is the best possible finish for the Red, White, and Blue. Team USA will play Finland today at the Miras Sports Complex in Kazan, Russia.

Creighton’s Doug McDermott led Team USA with 18 points and 4 boards. Louisville’s Luke Hancock added 16 points and 7 rebounds, and Baylor’s Cory Jefferson scored 11 on a 5-of-7 shooting performance.

White contributed just 2 points in 16 minutes of action. The Hawkeye also snagged 1 rebound and 1 steal.

Team USA was fueled by its bench, which scored 30 points in Monday’s contest.

“The bench has been superb, today and against Norway [on Sunday],” Team USA head coach Bob McKillop said in a release from USA Basketball. “They were active on the bench, and then as soon as they came into the game, they uplifted our spirits and gave us great energy. So, being able to use the full roster has been very advantageous to us.”

It was the second-consecutive game in which all 11 healthy players scored points for Team USA. Virginia Commonwealth’s Treveon Graham did not play because of an injury.

“I thought we were really unselfish once again,” McDermott said in the same release. “It’s just a little too late. We wish we could have those games that we lost back, because we are starting to click really well as a team. I thought Germany was a really physical team, but we did a good job of setting the tempo early.”
