Iowa’s Aaron White scored 6 points as Team USA fell to Australia, 93-84, at the World University Games on Thursday. It marks Team USA’s first loss in the competition.
“We had a 5-point lead as we entered the fourth quarter, and then I think we just struggled defensively,” Team USA head coach Bob McKillop said in a release from USA Basketball.
White’s 6 points came on a spotless 3-of-3 shooting performance from the floor, but the Hawkeye tallied just seven minutes. Doug McDermott led Team USA with 22 points.
Team USA will wrap up preliminary round action today against Canada, which is 4-0 in group play.
