The Iowa men’s basketball team will play six exhibition games in Europe in mid-August.
Iowa will play two games against the London Lions at the Copper Box Arena in London on Aug. 13 and 14. The Aug. 13 exhibition is closed to the public, and the next day’s game is open to fans.
The contests will mark the Lions’ first basketball game in the Olympic Park since last year’s games.
Iowa has 12 letterwinners back from last year’s 25-13 squad, and it adds incoming freshman guard Peter Jok and sophomore transfer Jarrod Uthoff — both of whom travel with the team to Europe.
The NCAA granted the team 10 days to prepare for the exhibition games. The trip will be special for Iowa center Gabe Olaseni, who hails from London. Olaseni’s parents will be able to see their son play in an Iowa uniform for the first time.
