Iowa track All-American Justin Austin will be a part of Team USA in Kazan, Russia, at the 2013 World University Games, one of 16 athletes on the U.S. squad. The games will take place July 6-17.
Austin will compete in the 200 meters and in the 400 relay — both events that he met the qualifying standards in at the 2013 NCAA meet.
Austin will run the 200 on July 9 and the 400 relay on July 11.
Team USA will be coached by South Carolina head track coach Curtis Frye and Southern Illinois head track coach Connie Price-Smith.
Austin joins Gavin Sam Kendricks (pole vault), Joe Kovacs (shot put), Ahmed Ali (100-meter dash, 4×100-meter relay), Mike Woepse (pole vault), Derrick Vicars (shot put, discus), and Montez Blair (high jump) on the men’s team.
ESPN will provide more than 40 hours of coverage throughout the University Games on ESPNU and additional coverage on ESPN3.
