The Iowa City City Council will move on an ordinance that would allow theatrical performances to take place in entertainment venues.
The ordinance would amend the City Code to include those taking part in a performance of theater as “performers” at entertainment venues in Iowa City. The amendments would allow for theatrical performances to take place before seated audiences in venues that also serve alcohol.
The city councilors will vote on the second consideration of this ordinance at their meeting on Tuesday. An ordinance requires three readings, but city staff has requested expedited action on the item.
