The Iowa City City Council will vote on an ordinance that would require Iowa City residents to store residential solid waste, yard waste, and recycling containers no farther than 2 feet from the wall of their residential building.
According to city documents, the proposed ordinance falls in line with the city’s strategic plan’s goal of reducing trash issues.
The councilors will vote on the first consideration of the ordinance at their meeting on Tuesday. An ordinance requires three readings.
