The Iowa City Fire Department released its annual report on Thursday.
The report outlines administrative services, fire-prevention efforts, emergency operations, training and equipment, and types of responses.
The number of fires increased from 162 in 2011 to 225 in 2012. Fire-service-based emergency medical services also increased over the past year from 2,765 to 3,103.
The Fire Department also responded to 5,173 calls — a 10.3 percent increase over 2011, according to the report.
